In our initiative for community involvement Cascade has committed to providing a scholarship in horticulture at the Lake Washington Institute of Technology. LWTech is located at 11605 132nd Avenue NE Kirkland, Washington 98034 and is the only public institute of technology in Washington state. We are delighted to support students of horticulture which has some common themes in that plants must be protected from insect and other pest organisms and that finding creative, less toxic approaches are a best practice.
This year’s LWTech Horticulture Scholarship 2022 recipient is Ali Black, a woman who loves to volunteer and benefit others in the community, as well as champion the art of horticulture. Ali has already been a successful business owner in the past. However, the Covid-19 pandemic affected her work and propelled her toward a new career.

In Ali’s words:
One of the best gifts you can give someone is the gift of education. I have been attending Lake Washington school of Technology to obtain my Associate of Applied Science with the ultimate goal of receiving my Bachelor of Science in Horticulture. I am very interested in the use of natural pest-control methods and green sustainable practices in the Horticulture industry. It was an honor to have received the Cascade Pest Control Scholarship.
Thank you Cascade Pest Control for your commitment to making our world a better place through your generosity.
~Ali Black
We wish Ali the very best knowing her goal is to continue her passion of helping others in a farm to food banks system.
